I began painting in 1979. Though predominantly self taught, I have studied under Lillian Boettcher, a well known local artist, and have taken workshops from many accomplished artists, including Kenneth Richard Turner, Dick Turner, Bob Rohm, Bobby Kilpatrick, Rosemary Mahoney, Doris Munson, Margaret Craig,Brad Braun etc. Recently  I have embarked on continuing my education at one of the country's largest community-based art schools - Southwest School Of Art and Craft in San Antonio, Texas - By completing several of their classes for established artists. Most recently I took classes at the Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy. In addition to acrylics, oils, pastels, water colors and mixed media, I am proficient in faux finishing and Italian Plaster applications , which I studied at the Definitive Decorative Arts School in Houston, Texas and the School of Italian Plaster in Atlanta, Georgia. I have painted photography backdrops for award winning photographers, as well as murals in fine homes and offices across Texas.

Weimar, Texas has been my lifelong home. Growing up on a dairy farm in rural America gave me an appreciation for my favorite subject - the rural landscape. I  find nothing more exhilarating than painting in "Plein Aire" - capturing the fleeting light effects that occur in nature,so as to allow you - when viewing my works - to feel as if you are actually in the scene. I also paint floral and animal portraits and am currently exploring abstract ,mixed media and  print making. I am finding that the palette knife allows  spontaneous and exhilarating expression of the scene I'm painting.

 Over the years I have received numerous awards and accolades, including Best of Show and Honorable Mention, After winning The Texas Garden Clubs  of America Texas Branch ornament competition, I was privileged to have my ornament disphayed on the National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C. for two  years.  I have participated in the Rolling Hillls Artist Studio Tour for the last four years. My work has been juried into the Santa Fe Art World web site. I have also been juried into the International Contemporary Masters Volume III Art book published by World Wide Art Books. 

I have taught children and adult art classes in both private and academic settings, and I was also instrumental in establishing the art program at  Weimar, High School along with Linda Beal
